While growing up, we are fed with numerous fairy tales,

Cinderella and other princesses,

Who suffer a lot, eventually to be saved,

By an unknown person, Prince of faraway land,

Who magically sweeps her away from life of drudgery?

To the castle of dreams!

Leading a forever happy life! 

Reality is different and to realize that it takes many decades, 

The chivalry, one looks for, can’t find in Strangers,

The one who will pull the chair, 

The one who will put luxury on your feet, 

The one who takes you to a fancy restaurant,

Holding the door for you, while you walk in,

Ignores your clumsiness, a perfect Gentleman!

Why he has to be someone, unknown, expect to do so, 

Perfect Gentleman can be your Brother or Father, 

While growing up, it is your father,

Who takes care of every sweet little things,

The one who treats you like Princess,

Takes you to a restaurant and holds the door for you, 

Later on, your brother does the same!

Lucky to have such kind souls around!

They took me to the best of places,

Treated me like a Queen,

I don’t have to wait for someone,

For some unknown stranger, hoping he is the one, 

There are some, my friends,

Always there to share your thoughts,

Your depression or happiness, laughing together,

Caring when needed or lending out his/her hand when you need it, 

Why do we romantize such basic emotions,

A relation that we long for, is someone who cares, 

And they exist in form of siblings or friends,

Still, when no one is around, it is the guiding spirit,

that tells your mind and scared heart, 

Go Girl!  Take a leap! 

You turned out fine! Like always!
